Gemeinsam mit der Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA) organisiert OptecNet Deutschland e.V. vom 8. - 10. September 2008 eine Reise nach Edinburgh - Glasgow - Livingston. Sie dient der Information und Kooperationsanbahnung zwischen Mitgliedern der Kompetenznetze Optische Technologien und schottischen Unternehmen bzw. Instituten. Als Themen sind vorgesehen: "Optics & Components", "Sensors & Imaging", "Display & Lasers" sowie "Biophotonics & Life Science".
